This huge piece of physical structure is a symbol of the competence of the current government. Sounds good right? But that only covers one half of the Statue of Unity. I am talking of the Statue - the physical structure. Our government is real they are capable of doing real things. Which means starting from the Statue of Unity to building those Smart cities or Bullet trains this government has the potential to pull off the impossible. The government is also aware that if they want to pull these jobs they need to outsource it to the Chinese. The Chinese sure know how to complete their jobs.
Our government is smart enough to realise that we cannot get it done ourselves inspite of the the "Make in India” rhetoric. This smartness is what is required to build the bullet train or the smart cities.
Lets come to the UNITY part of the edifice. Unity, unlike the statue, is not a physical structure its a notion or a concept. This calls for a different skills set all together. Unity needs to build in the hearts and minds of people. Can BJP do it? Yes they can if what they have managed to do thus far is to be taken into account.
They have caused disunity and they have fragmented the society if they can do that they sure have the ability to put it together. To repair something you have to dismantle it first. Thats exactly what the BJP has done with much pain, knowing fully well that it tears apart the social fabric they have ripped apart the peace that communities nurtured over decades. With this statue as a marker we can expect the leadership of the party to stitch the society together once again. Give them another term and they would do it
